The American Library Association/Young Adult Library Services Association selected the two newest Bluford Series novels, No Way Out and Schooled, as 2009 Quickpicks for Reluctant Young Adult Readers. These books and all Bluford Series novels & Townsend Library paperbacks can be purchased from this website for $1 each.
Construction is complete on a 50 KW solar power array located atop TP’s Book Center. This array will convert sunlight into electricity, supplying 95% of the company’s power and greatly reducing TP’s dependence on fossil fuels. See photos here.
A team of people from TP gathered recently to paint the inside of a home in Camden, New Jersey. TP sponsored the home through Habitat for Humanity. Click here to see a photo.
Nine titles from the Bluford Series are available now for immediate downloading. The files are posted in the Online Learning Center and can be accessed by teachers and instructors who have active accounts. Additional titles will be added soon.
Townsend Press has built and moved into a brand new Book Center. The new center features upgraded offices and three times more storage space than our old facility. See a picture of our new Book Center.
Novels from the Townsend Library and Bluford Series are a big hit with students in Philadelphia’s William Penn High School.
Townsend Press joined
First Book and the US Department of Education to distribute books to children from low-income families. As part of
the Adolescent Readers Initiative, TP donated over 500,000 popular paperbacks to kids eager to read them. The initiative kicked off at Webb Middle School in Austin, Texas and was attended by former U.S. Secretary of Education Margaret Spellings.
